Gillett Square
Gillett Square completed in 2006, was the first completed project in Mayor Ken Livingstone's '100 Spaces. Once a former car park it is now a space that links the busy streets with the Vortex Jazz Club and a few small shops and eating places. The square is a mix of hard and soft surfaces. The site was developed and is managed by Hackney co-operative Developments. I found the site very interesting and likeable as it was so contrasting and contemporary compared to its surroundings. The site is located next to Dalston Kingsland Station.
