Protests Over Power Station

Like I said in previous posts about the proposed Oldbury power station I will be continuing to upload and share news on the new development, this time I thought I should upload these newspaper images of the protests and meetings to stop or improve upon the situation of the mammoth power station proposed plans on a large green field site adjacent to the existing power plant. Over 200 people turned up for the meeting for the Oldbury power plant situation during which the talkers explained that Oldbury is one of nine sites that are being looked at for the new generation of nuclear power and that by “2025 more than 60 gigawatts will be needed to power one million homes as currently there is a shortage of power and space to build new stations” (Richard Marroit head of waste at DECC). The main concerns with the locals seems to be the cooling towers which could stand 70-200 metres high. A photoshoped image can be seen with the 200 Metre high towers on the last image. The meeting was recorded to be one of the largest turnouts the national consultants had seen. So hopefully if this public understanding and questioning of the site continues maybe a compromise will be made. But in the mean time the site is still in its early stages of planning.
