Parc Diagonal Mar, Barcelona

During a university trip to Barcelona i went to Enric Miralles’s Diagonal Mar Park, which I thought to be one of the best landscape projects I have seen that involved such a large space which linked so many different networks, buildings and communities together. I felt the park worked well with different levels, water, interacting with the community and was just generally enjoyable to walk through but I was surprised to see the website Project for public spaces named this park in its hall of shame category saying “We were sorely disappointed – and disturbed – at this development. People had told us that it was the future of Barcelona; if this is so, then Barcelona is in serious danger” I agree with some of the points on the website such as the water seems totally of limits, but despite this I really liked the space. See what you think visit the website to read more http://www.pps.org/great_public_spaces/one?public_place_id=623. Or visit http://www.mirallestagliabue.com/ the Miralles website to read what they say about the park. I think it’s great!
