Sipson Heathrow (Green Peace Airplot)

I went and visited the Greenpeace Airplot this week manly due to the fact that I have a project based on the site but I thought the plight of Sipson and the third runway must be made very public. If you didn’t know basically this story is about Heathrow wanting to build a third runway north of Heathrow, but there happens to be a town in the way called sipson and if Heathrow gets its way of building the runway around “700 homes, businesses, the local school and several local pubs” (Green Peace) will be destroyed. Not only that, but there are concerns for the amount of pollution that will be caused. Green Peace’s plans to stop this from happening were to buy and legally own a small plot of land right in the centre of the proposed third runway. The site is very small indeed and was surprised by this when I went. So I find it hard how this site could stop the construction but the publicity in which it is drumming up could certainly help. Green Peace has opened a competition in which you can enter an idea for an impenetrable fortress, to help Green Peace to stop the runway go to http://www.greenpeace.org.uk/climate/airplot/about-airplot and there you will find a lot of information to help and how to enter their competition. I just want to end with saying Sipson felt like a very defeated town when I went.
